Board Safety

Personal safety tips – the perspective of a soldier
I'm Sergeant Lazo and I can tell from the first day he set foot in the station MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) until the last day in the armed forces, security is not negotiable. Safety comes first in our line of work because lives are at stake. The same principles are taught directly correlate to civilian life. Let me put forth a military principles under the letter M, the principles civilians in the letter C and attacking early in the letter A.
Basic principles: consciousness
M: No matter where you are, stay alert and aware of your surroundings. In the military our # 1 enemy is complacency. Complacency is a feeling of satisfaction or complacency, especially when combined with a lack of awareness of danger, difficulty or dispute. In a combat environment to go through the same routine over and over again. Gun safety, cleaning his gun, drinking water, industry analysis, etc … It's easy to relax and let our guard down. They often forget the dangers, because you do so often and that's fine. Before you know something happens. Our worst enemy may be complacency.
C: Awareness is the key! Awareness of the reality of crime and violence, not to mention the awareness of their surroundings, are the keys to their personal safety. It's easy to say or think, "nothing will happen to me." Until it happens to you! Simple things like knowing that the danger exists and looking around in your environment can deter an attacker.
A: The attacker looking for someone who is distracted and unaware. For example, someone talking on a phone, someone looking for the keys, someone talking to others in a crowd or someone who just daydreaming. "Stay Awake"
Basics: Confidence Guarantee
M: No matter where you are, always appear calm and confident in his mannerism. A good example of in the military it is when you go to a promotion board. On board the promotion is the process that will achieve the next rank. Make a series of tasks and answer questions before the board members. You must show that we are ready to lead soldiers in combat. You get into his dress uniform and must appear calm and confident, even if you feel like your going to soil yourself. You do not show weakness and even if your answer is something wrong that stick to your guns and say it is written. The board members see it, the calm and confidence, even in stress are strong. Therefore recommend the promotion to the next rank.
C: Warranty and trust may seem a simple thing, but for some it is not easy. It is proven that the attackers look for clues that make it a potential victim seem an easy target. Things you can do to not look like a potential target are: Walk at a steady pace, Stand up straight with shoulders back and lifted his head, look around do other things while walking, pay attention and act confident and sure of himself.
A: The attacker will look for clues that tell them that any victim is an easy target. A person who walks with head down, maybe lost, perhaps confused, shuffling, and not paying attention to what is happening around them. "Do not make an easy target"
Basics: Trust Your Instincts
M: Trust your instincts. If you feel uneasy about someone or a situation, remove yourself. In the military this is especially true. When in a combat environment often a feeling or hearing a little voice in the back of your head that tells you something is wrong. In these cases we proceed with caution and sometimes save your ass.
C: learning to trust the strange feeling in the gut, the voice in your head and throat. What to do when your instincts are trying to say something? All your senses have come to life, your eyes, your smell, touch, taste and music. You should now be ready to take action. Fight or flight and must decide quickly! So that … you were wrong, would you rather feel a little embarrassed for 20 minutes or victims for the rest of your life?
A: The attacker is trying to do one thing attack and in most cases the coward from the rear. Be prepared and "Trust your instincts, you can not go wrong"
Basic Principles: lights, people and noise
M: Park in well lit. If you have to work late or go shopping at night, consider a security guard to walk to his car. Consider a co-worker that you walk to your car. In case of trouble to make noise, scream or use the car's security alarm. In the military, state, or in a combat environment to practice the battle buddy system. Everywhere we go, they usually have someone with us. In our line of work we have safety in numbers.
C: While out to remember their best allies are lights, people and noise. Attackers will stay away from such places. The attackers did not want to risk being seen or captured. clear of dark and isolated places SSL. Put the odds in your side.
R: Attackers seek status and places that are in your favor. dark places with no people around, but the victim. Remember to "use common good sense "
Basic principles: Be prepared
M: It has the car keys or house keys ready before opening the door or even before you leave. A good example of this in the armed forces would be your PMI (inspections prior to the mission.) Regardless of the mission is a good idea to make sure you have a bag of the night in the case did not reach its destination. You need a lot of food and water. You need to make sure they have medical supplies that have not expired. You need to make sure your weapon is clean and functional. And do not forget plenty of ammunition. One missing item can do for a long mission!
C: At the foot of a building to your car or vice versa, have your keys in hand ready to go. Do this while still in the building or in your car. Do not allow that his search for the keys to the distraction that the attacker is looking for. Be prepared, a gun is easy to protect yourself with the car keys. If you decide to fight, a key between each finger. You now have a powerful and painful if someone tries to attack you.
A: An attacker is looking for an opportunity to attack. Do not be distracted be aware and prepared. The attacker is not expected to be ready. The attacker works under the premise of the capture of the victim by surprise and unprepared. Remember that "almost anything can be a weapon "
Basics: Locking Doors
M: Always lock your doors, even if only out a few minutes. This includes the garage and cellar doors as well. Most of our young soldiers "now live in the barracks. You would think that would close the doors the first thing they do. That's not what often happens. Today's young soldiers are looking to party more often then not, this includes alcohol that leads to decisions bad. An open door is an invitation to an attacker shouting "easy victim."
C: Keep windows and doors of your home, business and vehicle closed and locked, especially when you're alone. This can be done to prevent many types of attacks. Most attackers if their facilities or the vehicle before an attack. An attacker will seek the easiest way possible. Home security systems, personal alarms, locks work and door locks and window locks are a must for your safety and peace of mind.
R: Attackers seeking easy victims! Victims are not observed practicing the principles of good personal safety. They want the element of surprise, look for the easy way in, not to be seen or get caught and want what you have.
Basics: Telephone and
M: Familiarize yourself with the unit, the local community and emergency notification procedures. Keep these phone numbers in your cell phone or your phone side of the house of memory. When a military installation or in the combat environment as well to notify the authorities that the majority also notify your chain of command. This allows them to take appropriate action and provide assistance.
C: Hold a cell phone or home phone and have emergency numbers handy instead. In Case of Emergency: Who will help? Who will monitor home? Their dogs? His children? Or the elderly? In case of doubt 911!
A: Let's face it, the attacker is ultimately afraid of one thing, being caught by the police. As car chases in the six articles have proven time and again. "Frightening"
An attacker can be almost any person and sometimes people you least expect it. Take the current situation in Iraq for example. When the war started there was a clear enemy, they had uniforms, weapons and large machines. Today we have the fog of war. I do not know who is civilian and who is the enemy. There are no uniforms, all carrying guns and pretend to be your friend. What the enemy? Wait for the victim, the soldier who does not know. The soldier who appears lost and confused. The soldier who is distracted. What can the soldier? Put the odds back in its favor, that's what you can do! The same is true for you. Take control and put the odds back in your favor!
